Legal Firm

When one of the 15 largest law firms in the world was looking for a colocation solution that could accommodate its growth, it turned to Ascent Data. Founded in 1877, the firm has 22 offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The firm represents leading international businesses, from Fortune 100 corporations to mid-market and emerging enterprises. Its lawyers advise industries including financial services, life sciences, health care, advertising, technology and media, shipping, energy trade and commodities, real estate, manufacturing, and education.
Background
As the law firm grew to become one of the 15 largest in the world, so did their volume of data and capacity to store it. With a primary data center in Ohio and their contract with a secondary data center in Pittsburgh set to expire, they were considering more scalable colocation options that would accommodate growth.
Solution
"Obviously we needed a flexible solution that could accommodate our growth. And it goes without saying that in our industry we require a high level of security and resiliency. Ascent Data could offer all of those and managed services by a senior technical staff, not a help desk," said Fred Aul, Data Center Manager.
After careful consideration, the law firm selected Ascent Data as their secondary data center. Two years later, Ascent Data serves as a secondary data center to the law firm's three primary data centers, the original data center in Ohio and two new data centers in Asia and Eastern Europe.
"Having our data safely outside of the city limits, but close enough to access was also very important. We migrated our infrastructure to Ascent Data without a hitch and the technical staff is always available when we need them, day or night," said Aul.
