Systems Administrator

At Ascent Data, LLC we help small and medium sized businesses in the Pittsburgh region become more efficient, more competitive and more secure – on premise, in the cloud, and in our own SOC2 audited data center. We deliver better outcomes more cost effectively than most companies can internally.We are seeking an experienced, full-time Systems Administrator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assess customer technology infrastructure and environment
• Create customer infrastructure and policy roadmap and budget to maximize security, availability and organizational efficiency
• Provide remote and on-site IT infrastructure and policy management and support to keep customer systems functioning and secure
• Keep Ascent Data management informed of customer environment status and issues on a daily basis
• Adhere to and apply all Ascent Data standards, processes, policies, and tools
• Design, plan, implement and manage Active Directory
• Administer multiple VMware and Windows 2008/12 domains that include, but are not limited to: Active Directory, IIS, Exchange, and infrastructure monitoring
• Anticipate and identify potential customer IT related issues and work pro-actively to resolve
• Trouble shoot and resolve network / systems-related issues in real time to minimize operational down time
• Provide network / server administration and support for daily operations in Windows environments
• Design, plan, implement and manage Microsoft Online Services solutions (Office365)
• Provide RMM tool administration and reporting
• Execute technical activities including; hardware/OS/application implementation, upgrades and support
• Review and recommend server and software for corporate and customer applications
• Provide system performance and tuning as well as root cause determination in the event of failures
• Produce and present documentation, training, and standard operating procedures for both internal and external customer use
• Work on-site at customer locations as needed
• Collaborates effectively with Ascent Data staff and management

Minimum Qualifications:
• Technical Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
• 5+ years of relevant IT experience; customer-facing positions preferred
• Pursues and maintains professional career based certifications

Network Administrator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain and secure computing environments at Ascent Data and customer locations by identifying network requirements, installing upgrades, monitoring network performance
• Establish network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; design router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols
• Establish network environments by designing system configuration, directing system installation, and defining, documenting, maintaining, and enforcing system standards
• Evaluate network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, good put, and latency; plan and execute the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; define network policies and procedures; establish connections and firewalls
• Secure networks by developing network access, control, and evaluation; establishing and enforcing policies; performing regular monitoring to identify security vulnerabilities and intrusions, and maintaining documentation
• Develop and coordinate project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations
• Provide leadership in planning and implementation of projects for clients and enterprise systems administration
• Work on-site at customer locations as appropriate

Help Desk Analyst

Job Overview

We currently have a full-time Help Desk Analyst opening in our 24X7 Response Center. The position works 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., 3 days on/3 days off, rotating shift. The primary responsibility of the Help Desk Analyst is to take ownership of reported incidents. The Analyst helps the internal and external customers resolve incidents using remote support tools and basic troubleshooting techniques. Help Desk Analysts are the primary contact for status information on every technical support ticket and service request. You will receive excellent experience across a broad range of customers, thorough training, and earn certification in technologies and disciplines of interest to you in building your career.

Duties and Primary Responsibilities:

• Proudly and professionally represent Ascent Data as the first line of support for customers
• Conduct computer diagnostics onsite and remotely to investigate and resolve problems
• Trouble shoot and resolve systems-related issues in real time to minimize operational down time

• Provide expert support for laptops, desktops, and remote access technologies as well as provide support as required regarding hardware, software, smart phone, and remote access
• Manage user account setup and administration in Active Directory
• Provide basic server and administration support for daily operations in a Windows environment.
• Diagnose and resolve level 1 and 2 technical problems with computer hardware, networking and software
•Install and configure PC hardware and software at end user workstations and test for correct operation
•Train and assist users in the use of personal computers, peripheral devices and software to resolve issues and increase productivity
•Log PC software bugs and search for solutions via information resources and upgrades available on the internet and/or direct communication with software vendors
•Implement approved solutions to achieve increased user efficiency using approved tools and techniques

•Communicate with vendors and 3rd parties to ensure timely and satisfying completion of tasks

Position Requirements:

•A minimum of one year of experience providing end-user phone support for PC desktop and application software and installing, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing personal computers in a network environment
•Customer service oriented with strong oral and written communication skills
•Professionally communicate complex information effectively on the telephone and via email to inexperienced computer users
•Knowledge of desktop and server operating systems (Windows 7, 8 and 10) (Server 2003, 2008 and 2012)
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and Office 365
•MS Office 365 administration (Exchange and SharePoint)
•Knowledge with MS Active Directory
•Strong written and oral communication
•Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
•Ability to lift and/or move equipment (10 to 50 lbs.)
•Strong organizational and multitasking skills
•Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment
•A valid driver’s license
